Graduate Funding Opportunities

The National Cancer Institutes’ (NCI) Intramural Continuing Umbrella Experiences (iCURE) program is now accepting applications through February 16 for research experiences to begin summer/fall 2026. While at NCI, individuals will have the ability to explore opportunities in basic and clinical research, cancer epidemiology and genetics research, cancer control science as well as global health by working with investigators within the Center for Cancer Research, Center for Global Health, Division of Epidemiology and Genetics, or Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences. A core to the iCURE program is multi-level mentoring that begins during the application process and continues throughout the experience.

An iCURE scholar must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or an individual who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States.

The program offers:

  • Two-year awards for post-baccalaureate (including post-master’s) individuals and three-year awards for postdoctoral fellows
  • Professional and career development opportunities
  • Connection to an extensive and sustaining mentoring network
  • Support by NCI program staff as well as information and resources on intramural and extramural funding

Principal investigators (PIs) may have the option to provide support for additional years.

Applications to iCURE must be submitted by February 16, 2026 with all letters of reference  submitted by 11:59 PM EST on February 23, 2026.The target start date for the fellowships will be September 1, 2026.
