Student Spotlight: Meaghan Lewis

Meaghan Lewis, a 4.0 Biology graduate from Tennessee State University, has spent the past four years (2020–2024) as a student researcher in the MVTCP Partnership under the mentorship of Dr. Margaret Whalen. During this time, she co-authored two publications in the Journal of Applied Toxicology and Archives of Toxicology, presented research findings to peers and program leaders, trained new trainees on lab procedures, and collaborated with TSU’s Psychology Department to create promotional videos showcasing scientific research.

After graduating in 2024, Meaghan stepped into a leadership role as a Trainee Leader on the MVTCP Research Education Core, where they facilitated the 2025 Career Panel and strengthened connections between current and former trainees. Currently serving as a Scribe Ambassador in the Emergency Department and Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery clinic, she assists medical providers by accurately documenting patient-provider interactions and trains new scribes on professional standards.
